Canadian health agency has issued a Customs Alert to the Canada Border Services Agency "to monitor importation" of ayurvedic herbal medicinal products found to contain high levels of heavy metals. The alert cites brands named in a recent Journal of the American Medical Association study by Robert Saper, MD, Harvard Medical School, et al., that found detectable levels of lead in 13 of 70 of such imported products (1"The Tan Sheet" Dec. 20, 2004, p. 13).
