Executive Summary
OMB urges HHS, USDA to modify the Dietary Guidelines and Food Guide Pyramid to include new information stating omega-3 fatty acids may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, while trans fatty acids may increase risk of CHD, according to May 28 1"prompt" letter. OMB bases its request on "epidemiologic and clinical studies finding that an increase in consumption of omega-3 fatty acids results in reduced deaths due to CHD."
