Executive Summary
In light of recent studies raising concerns about the safety of long-term hormone replacement therapy, NCCAM has issued a consumer advisory on alternative therapies for menopause symptoms. "At this time, there is not enough scientific evidence to determine whether these therapies are beneficial" or "as safe or safer than conventional drugs being used for menopausal symptoms, osteoporosis or heart disease," the Aug. 2 advisory warns.
