Executive Summary
Dietary supplements that were labeled by, or for which labeling had been printed by Jan. 6, 2000 are eligible for a stay of the final reg's Feb. 7, 2000 effective date, FDA announces in a Sept. 29 Federal Register notice. Manufacturers must notify the agency of the identity of eligible products and provide documentation of the labeling/printing date. Small businesses with eligible products will have until July 7, 2001 to bring their products into compliance; all other firms will have until Jan. 7, 2001. FDA's action comes in response to trade association objections to the final rule's 30-day effective date for "pipeline" products (1"The Tan Sheet" Feb. 21, p. 7)
