OTC sales in community pharmacies are expected to rise 8.3% to $32 bil. in 1999, compared to sales of $29.5 bil. in 1998, NACDS Interim President and CEO Robert Hannan stated at the trade group's pharmacy and managed care forum in San Diego Aug. 29-Sept. 1. Traditional chain pharmacies and mass merchant pharmacies each are expected to make up 32.5% of that total, or $10.4 bil., while supermarket pharmacies contribute 30.9% ($9.9 bil.) and independent outlets add 4.1% ($1.3 bil.).
