ABBOTT AGREES TO HALT ENSURE UNSUBSTANTIATED "DOCTOR RECOMMENDED" CLAIMS under a proposed settlement with the Federal Trade Commission. The agreement would prohibit the Abbott Park, Ill.-based OTC and nutritional product marketer from claiming in future ads that Ensure is recommended by doctors as a meal replacement and/or supplement for healthy adults without appropriate substantiation, FTC announced Jan. 2.
