Aventis CEO Igor Landau downplayed rumors about merger plans in response Sanofi-Synthelabo's comments that it is not "averse to doing a deal" with Aventis. "On the other hand, to say that we would never ever...participate in further industry consolidation I think would be stupid because never ever doesn't exist." Landau added that if Aventis decided to merge, its criteria would include "cultural fit" and would have "nothing to do with nationality"...
