The latest attempt to abolish the requirement for mandatory local clinical trials of foreign medicines in Russia appears doomed to failure after it was rejected by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, apparently in order to bolster efforts to reduce the country's reliance on foreign drug imports.
