Although the US Food and Drug Administration and the Federal Trade Commission on 3 May said they were aware of at least a dozen "scammers" selling numerous phony and unapproved drugs over the internet or in retail outlets claiming to prevent, treat or cure sexually transmitted diseases – even identifying them on the FDA's website – the alleged cozeners were not immediately charged with any crimes, nor did they have their products seized or their websites shut down1,2.
