John Carlson retires as Carlson Laboratories president and becomes director emeritus after 45 years of leading the vitamin and nutritional supplement manufacturer. His daughter, Carilyn Carlson Anderson, succeeds him as president. In addition to co-founding the Arlington Heights, Ill., firm, John Carlson participated in industry groups including the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, National Nutritional Food Association (now the Natural Products Association), National Institute of Nutritional Education and Mid American Health Organization. He earned the NNFA's Crusader Award in 2001 and NINE's first Board of Directors Award in 1985
