Claritin brand licensed for fabrics

This article was originally published in The Tan Sheet

Executive Summary

Merck out-licenses its OTC allergy relief brand to London Luxury for a line of allergen barrier fabric products. Merck acquired the Claritin brand in its Schering-Plough merger in 2009 and called the licensing deal "an opportunity to extend our brand and reach consumers in new, innovative ways," according to a Sept. 13 press release. New Rochelle, N.Y.-based London Luxury introduced the Claritin bedding line, which protects against allergens such as dust mites and pet dander, to the trade this month but has yet to set a retail launch date. The companies did not disclose the value or duration of the exclusive licensing agreement
