Executive Summary
Manufacturers of liquid infant formula are seeking alternatives to bisphenol A to use in can linings, with FDA's blessing. CFSAN Director Stephen Sundlof says at the Science Board meeting Feb. 22, "They've come to the decision that rather than spending their time trying to reformulate a BPA-based epoxy, that they really need ... new alternatives. And having seen the research, we tend to agree with them." The agency in January said it has some concern about BPA's effects on fetuses, infants and children (1"The Tan Sheet" Jan. 25, 2010). CFSAN soon will post the results of its BPA studies for public comment
