Cough med marketers add icon to label

This article was originally published in The Tan Sheet

Executive Summary

The Consumer Healthcare Products Association says cough medicine marketers have added an educational icon to product labels to alert consumers of the danger of OTC drug abuse and direct them to the Web site StopMedicineAbuse.org, which provides resources for talking to teens about the issue. In addition, CHPA reported that Dr. Drew Pinsky, host of the radio show "Loveline" and star of the VH1 hits "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew" and "Sober House," has joined CHPA's "Five Moms" public health campaign to prevent teen abuse of cough medicine (1"The Tan Sheet" May 14, 2007)
