FDA announces 2009 Food Safety Survey

FDA will conduct an updated food safety survey, last completed in 2006, that will ask why consumers do not always heed food recalls. According to a Sept. 17 Federal Register notice, the agency intends to interview 4,000 adults nationwide by telephone about their knowledge, attitudes and beliefs about food safety. FDA says data from the 2009 survey will measure consumer trends in the food safety area and inform consumer education policy.
