FTC files for injunction against hoodia marketer

Executive Summary

The Federal Trade Commission files a permanent injunction against supplement firms Stella Labs and Nutraceuticals International, along with certain officers of the firms, for deceptive marketing of products containing hoodia. FTC sought the injunction due to Paramus, N.J.-based Stella Labs and Nutraceuticals International Elmwood Park, N.J.-based Nutraceuticals International allegedly "engaging in deceptive acts or practices and false advertising in connection with the advertising, marketing, and sale of a purported weight-loss product," according to the complaint filed March 30 in the U.S. District Court of New Jersey
