ConsumerLab issues vitamin study

ConsumerLab.com says in a March 31 report it found "defects" in more than 30 percent of 46 brands of multivitamins it tested. The White Plains, N.Y.-based firm says "many products exceeded tolerable upper limits for certain vitamins and minerals," including vitamin A and folic acid. For example, it says, three out of four tested children's multivitamins included too much vitamin A, and a vitamin water it tested had 15 times the stated amount of folic acid. Other multivitamins did not include the claimed percentage of vitamins and minerals, and lead contaminated one men's and one pets' multivitamin, the firm says
