The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois orders infomercial marketer Kevin Trudeau to pay $37 million for violating a 2004 ban from producing or publishing infomercials by misrepresenting the contents of his book "The Weight Loss Cure 'They' Don't Want You to Know About." A judge raised the fine from more than $5 million to the amount consumers paid in response to Trudeau's deceptive infomercials, the Federal Trade Commission announces Jan. 15.
