McNeil settles sweet suit

Executive Summary

A trademark infringement lawsuit filed by the Sugar Association against McNeil Nutritionals in December 2004 has been settled, the Fort Washington, Pa.-based company announces Nov. 17. The parties are not disclosing details of the settlement of the suit in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. McNeil was sued for stating its Splenda artificial sweetener is "made from sugar so it tastes like sugar" (1"The Tan Sheet" Feb. 7, 2005, In Brief).
