The Center for Science in the Public Interest asks FDA in a citizen petition to ban artificial colors Yellow 5 and 6, Red 40 and 3, Blue 1 and 2, Green 3 and Orange B because recent studies and a meta-analysis found the dyes are linked to hyperactivity and behavior problems in children. In a release, the advocacy group says it also wants FDA to require warning labels on foods with the artificial dyes and correct the information about the dyes on its Web site.
