Researchers with the Council for Responsible Nutrition established the first upper intake levels of three amino acids commonly used in dietary supplements, according to a paper published in the April issue of Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology. The paper reveals that amino acid taurine does not cause adverse effects at a dose up to three grams per day, nor does glutamine in a dose up to 14 grams per day or arginine in a dose up to 20 grams per day, CRN says.
