More women regularly used folic acid supplements in 2007 than in previous years, yet the majority of women still do not take the recommended 400 mg daily amount, according to a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study in the Jan. 11 Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. Roughly 40 percent of women surveyed in 2007 said they took a supplement with folic acid daily, compared with 33 percent in 2005 and 32 percent in 2003.
