Eleven proposed monographs for dietary supplements have been released for public comment, the U.S. Pharmacopeia states Nov. 15. Six turmeric-related monographs, three soy isoflavones monographs and two monographs for single ingredient amino acid formulations contain specific and validated analytical methods that will ensure the identify of the articles and protect consumers and industry from low-quality and adulterated products, USP says. Separately, USP announces Nov. 12 that it has completed a review of IVC Industries' B-50 Tablets and concluded the product does contain the amount of folic acid stated on its label and does meet USP dissolution requirements. USP conducted its assessment after ConsumerLab.com identified B-50 tablets as one of 10 multivitamins that do not contain label amounts of folic acid.
