Executive Summary
The House passed Michigan Republican Fred Upton's legislation, H.R. 970, to crack down on the bulk sale of dextromethorphan and prevent its abuse. "The Dextromethorphan Distribution Act of 2007" makes it illegal to sell unfinished DXM to any person or company not registered with FDA. The Senate received the bill Oct. 16 and referred it to the Health Committee. A similar bill passed in December 2006, but the Senate did not act on it.
