Executive Summary
New York state lawmakers have drafted two bills that would require every dietary or nutritional supplement to bear a statement regarding whether the product has been tested by FDA. On Jan. 12, S. 938 was introduced by Sen. Kenneth La Valle and assigned to the Consumer Protection Committee, and A. 2068 was introduced by Assemblyman Felix Ortiz and assigned to the Agriculture Committee. According to food and drug lawyer Marc Ullman of the law firm Ullman, Shapiro & Ullman, "The fact that these are companion bills, introduced at the same time in both houses of the state legislature, suggests that this might be a serious effort"...
