Daniel Fabricant, PhD, is the National Nutritional Foods Association's new VP-scientific affairs, the group announces Jan. 26. Fabricant most recently served as assistant director of research for ConsumerLab.com and is "an expert in dietary supplements for women's health, sports nutrition and quality analysis of botanical products," NNFA says. Fabricant formerly owned a Chicago-based fitness business and "developed a unique expertise in the science behind strength training and conditioning ," NNFA says. In addition, Fabricant has contributed to research projects at NIH's Office of Dietary Supplements and the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Research in Traditional Medicine. Fabricant's new role at NNFA will require him to oversee NNFA's "quality assurance efforts" on dietary supplements, the good manufacturing practices certification and TruLabel random testing programs...
