The Medicine & Healthcare products Agency will lead "an initiative for the better regulation of over-the-counter medicines," UK Minister for Quality & Patient Safety Jane Kennedy states during the European Self-Medication Industry (AESGP) meeting Nov. 23. The initiative "will determine what measures need to be in place to enable better operation and delivery of over-the-counter medicines regulation," the minister explains. MHRA has invited several organizations to nominate members to participate, including the Proprietary Association of Great Britain, the Department of Health, the Cabinet Office, the National Pharmaceutical Association and the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organizations. The minister requests that the group hold the first meeting before the end of December and "deliver its first proposals to simplify over-the-counter medicines regulation by the end of this financial year"...
