Folid acid and hypertension

"A single dose of folic acid improves cardiac and vascular sympathetic baroreceptor sensitivity" in patients with mild to moderate hypertension, a study in the Jan. 1 Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology says. Markus Bechir, MD, University Hospital, Zurich, et al., studied 21 male patients with the condition. After a two-week washout period, the men were randomized to either folic acid 5 mg or placebo. "Cardiac and vascular sympathetic baroreceptor functions were tested before and after a single dose of folic acid or placebo with two methods," the researchers state, suggesting folic acid "may represent a novel treatment" for complications associated with hypertension...
