Chitosan and chromium picolinate show a "relative paucity of compelling evidence to suggest the effectiveness of dietary supplements in weight loss," Max Pittler and Edzard Ernst, Universities of Exeter and Plymouth, UK, report in April American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. The researchers' literature search for supplements touted for weight loss turned up "five systematic reviews and meta-analyses based on the results of double-blind [randomized clinical trials] and 25 additional double-blind RCTs."
