Researchers Takaoki Kasahara, et al., Brain Science Institute, Saitama, Japan, suggest that pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ) "be classified as a new B vitamin, joining niacin/nicotinic acid (vitamin B3) and riboflavin." In a study published in April 24 Nature, mice were fed either diet supplemented with PQQ or standard diet; those not receiving PQQ grew at a slower rate, suffered from a reduced immune response, were not as successful at reproduction and had fragile skin.
