Soy isoflavone genistein linked to in utero developmental problems in rats, according to article in the Feb. 15 New Scientist. In a study led by Sabra Klein, MD, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, to be published in a future issue of Urology, researchers found that male rats exposed to common levels of genistein in utero developed larger prostates, smaller testes as adults than other male rats. Although similar effects have not been seen in sons of Asian and vegetarian women, article notes the researchers are "'advising pregnant women to avoid soya'"...
