Executive Summary
After failing to pass 10 of 13 appropriations bills, including Agriculture and Labor/HHS, House, Senate adopt continuing resolution (H.J. Res. 123) Oct. 16 to extend current funding levels for government agencies until Nov. 22. In recent letter opposing measure, House Approps Committee Chairman Bill Young (R-Fla.) maintains FDA resources "would be reduced by $138 mil. which would result in immediate furlough and [reduction in forces] among newly hired employees responsible for enhanced availability of drugs...and for increased food safety activities"...
