Executive Summary
Rx head lice remedy banned in California as Gov. Gray Davis signs bill into law Sept. 5. Effective Jan. 1, 2002, the bill prohibits the sale or use of the drug to treat head lice or scabies, but permits ingredient's use as an industrial pesticide. Assemblyman Alan Lowenthal (D) and other lawmakers pushed the measure based on concerns of neurotoxicity and carcinogenicity.
