Executive Summary
Senate bill requiring identical labeling on food products sold throughout the U.S. sent to the Senate floor June 29 following approval by the Committee on Agriculture. The "National Uniformity for Food Act" (S 1155), introduced by Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kan.), mirrors House legislation (HR 2129) introduced by Rep. Richard Burr (R-N.C.) last year. The legislation, which the Grocery Manufacturers of America says "will provide uniform standards for food adulteration, misbranding and warning labels," would appear to apply to dietary supplements as well
