This article was originally published in The Tan Sheet

Executive Summary

3M's antibacterial first aid strips are "breathable bandages that kill germs," says a June 18 FSI offering a free 25- or 30-count box with both a $1-off coupon and mail-in rebate. Carrying an average retail price of $2.39, the bandages, which began shipping in March, contain benzalkonium chloride. Several federal agencies, including FDA, NIH and CDC, recently expressed concerns over the use of antimicrobial agents in consumer products (1"The Tan Sheet" June 26, p. 7). 3M also has signed licensing agreements with Universal Studios and Disney to use Curious George, Princess Jasmine and characters from the movie "Dinosaurs" in its line of Nexcare Tattoo waterproof bandages
