Executive Summary
Providing a separate line item on food nutrition facts labeling for trans fat information is preferred over combining trans fat levels with saturated fat, FTC's Bureaus of Economics and Consumer Protection say in April 17 comments on FDA's proposed rule. FTC staff also recommend FDA consider a health claim regarding the potential link between trans fatty acids and heart disease to help consumers make more informed choices.
