Executive Summary

House of Delegates approves position policies on dietary supplement regulation at March annual meeting. The group advocates: increased FDA influence over the marketing of supplements; supplement labeling that includes ingredients, ingredient sources and strengths, and population-specific usage directions; adoption of "clear and effective enforcement policies"; creation of an FDA database of AERs; the establishment of GMPs; and industry-wide observance of USP/NF standards. Additionally, APhA will enlist health care professionals for consumer outreach programs. An action plan is expected to win board approval in May
