Executive Summary
FDA reopens comment period until April 17 on proposed rule requiring foods to disclose the trans fatty acids content in the "Nutrition Facts" panel. The proposal, published in the Nov. 17 Federal Register, would apply to supplements and foods containing .5 g or more trans fat per serving. In addition, products containing more than 4 g saturated and trans fat combined per serving would be prohibited from making health claims, such as the approved claim for calcium and osteoporosis.
