Executive Summary
The vast majority of pharmaceutical manufacturers are prepared for the Y2K computer glitch, an FDA survey and audit program shows. The survey was sent to 4,228 firms; of the 474 recipients classified as OTC drug manufacturers, 73.4% responded. Overall, the survey elicited a 74.5% response rate, with 94.4% saying they would be ready for Y2K by Oct. 30. The audit program was 88% complete as of October, with 183 companies expected to be visited. So far, 92% of the companies FDA has audited have been classified as prepared for Y2K
