Executive Summary

Schering-Plough's laxative line extended with Correctol 50 Plus stool softener and stimulant laxative; an FSI dropped nationwide in October states the product provides "comfortable overnight relief that's specially formulated for mature women." The active ingredients are sennosides (20 mg) and docusate sodium (100 mg), and packaging directs adults to take one or two tablets at bedtime. The 24-count box began shipping Aug. 1 to mass market, drug and food stores, and is retailing for about $5.39. The FSI offers a $1.50-off coupon for 50 Plus and a 75cent-off coupon for any Correctol product. Additional promotional support includes in-store displays, shelf talkers and advertising as part of the Correctol line ad schedule in National Enquirer, Star, Soap Opera Weekly and Jet
