Executive Summary
Revised United States Pharmacopeia and National Formulary available now in bound book and CD-ROM form. The new edition contains 3,777 monographs for drugs and dietary supplements, of which 543 are new, and 164 chapters with "scientific methods and tests, good manufacturing practices and other matters," of which eight are new. The updated standards take effect Jan. 1, 2000; the reference volume is available six months in advance to provide manufacturers "sufficient opportunity to implement any necessary changes in their manufacturing procedures, quality controls or analytical methods to assure compliance," USP says
