Executive Summary
Washington state bill 5365, which stipulates that all dietary supplements containing more than .5% alcohol "must be clearly labeled including a list of the ingredients," signed by Gov. Gary Locke (D) April 22; the law goes into effect July 25. The bill, which unanimously (47-0) passed the Senate March 13, exempts all alcohol-containing supplements from the state liquor laws that regulate alcoholic beverages. Sponsored by Sens. Margarita Prentice (D-Seattle) and Shirley Winsley (R-Fircrest), the legislation was requested by the state Liquor Control Board.
