Antioxidant intake through diet is "the most prudent and scientifically supportable recommendation" aimed at reducing the risk of coronary heart disease, the American Heart Association says in a science advisory on antioxidants and CHD risk published in the Feb. 2 issue of Circulation. More research must be done on antioxidant supplements before they can be recommended for prophylactic use, AHA says.
