The marketing effort appears partially to be in response to the success of Merck's oral anti-baldness treatment Propecia (finasteride). While Propecia has a small incidence of adverse sexual side effects, P&U notes Rogaine Extra Strength "did not cause sexual dysfunction in clinical trials."
