FDA STRUCTURE/FUNCTION CLAIM SUBSTANTIATION GUIDANCE ADVISED BY FTC Bureau of Consumer Protection staff in Aug. 27 comments to FDA. The Federal Trade Commission division urges in comments on FDA's April 29 proposed rule on the claims for dietary supplements that "any final rule reiterate explicitly the requirement" in the Dietary Supplement Health & Education Act "that structure/function claims be adequately substantiated" and also recommends FDA "include guidance in the final rule as to what constitutes adequate substantiation of a structure/function claim."
