STRUCTURE/FUNCTION PROPOSAL COMMENT DEADLINE EXTENDED UNTIL SEPT. 25 in response to a joint request from the National Nutritional Foods Association, the American Herbal Products Association and the Utah Natural Products Alliance, NNFA announced Aug. 11. An extension of the Aug. 27 deadline was supported by Sens. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) in an Aug. 8 letter to FDA. "We are writing to urge that you give serious consideration to granting an extension of 30 days or more" to the Aug. 27 deadline for comments on the proposed rule, "the letter states.
