Executive Summary
SCHERER/PARACELSIAN BIOFIT HERBGELS CERTIFIED "FUNCTIONAL" SUPPLEMENTS will begin reaching broad-line distributors in September in five varieties: St. John's wort, echinacea, saw palmetto, ginseng and ginkgo biloba. Five additional herbals are to follow after the beginning of the year. The dietary supplements will be introduced under an exclusive North American agreement between softgel manufacturer R.P. Scherer, which holds the Herbgels trademark, and Ithaca, N.Y.-based Paracelsian, creator of the BioFIT Bio Functional Integrity Tested system. The agreement was announced July 9. A worldwide agreement is expected along the same lines in the next 60 days, Paracelsian said.
