This article was originally published in The Tan Sheet

Executive Summary

AYURVEDIC CONCEPTS PROMOS CONTAIN "NUMEROUS" DISEASE CLAIMS, making the company's dietary supplement products unapproved drugs, FDA determines in a June 18 warning letter to the supplement importer and distributor. The letter, which resulted from inspections of the company conducted by FDA investigators on Feb. 2 and March 9, follows an FDA "courtesy letter" sent to Houston-based Ayurvedic Concepts in early 1997 ("The Tan Sheet" March 24, 1997, p. 9). The two products cited in the "courtesy letter" -- GastriCare and Gasex - - also are listed in the recent warning letter.
