Executive Summary
"They did it!" spokesperson Shirley Jones proclaims. "Now there's an easy, great-tasting way to stay regular and, with a low-fat diet, it helps your cholesterol and may even reduce your risk of heart disease" in ads beginning in late August. Jones is best known for the movies "Carousel," "Oklahoma" and "The Music Man," as well as the television show "The Partridge Family." Fiberall began shipping in April ("The Tan Sheet" April 20, p. 5). The label states that "Fiberall promotes normal regularity" and that "when used as part of a low fat diet, gives your body more of what it needs to lower cholesterol"; both statements bear the FDA disclaimer for dietary supplements. In addition to psyllium, oat fiber and oat bran, the product contains guar gum, gum Arabic, soy fiber and fruit pectin...
