CANADIAN OTC HARMONIZATION PROCESS TO MOVE FORWARD IN JULY with Health Canada's upcoming publication of a regulation in the Canadian Gazette, Part II. Under the reg, the Canadian drug regulatory authority will no longer play a role in determining whether a nonprescription drug will be available behind the pharmacy counter and dispensed by a pharmacist (schedule II), pharmacy-sale (schedule III) or free-sale (unscheduled). Drug scheduling authority will devolve to the independent National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities Nonprescription Drugs Scheduling Advisory Committee (NDSAC). Schedule I is reserved for prescription drugs.
