EPISODIC PAIN RELIEF FROM ANALGESICS WITH FAST ONSET, SHORT ACTION ADVISED by the American Geriatric Society in guide-lines for "The Management of Chronic Pain in Older Persons," published in the May issue of the Journal of the American Geriatric Society. "Fast-onset, short-acting analgesic drugs should be used for episodic (i.e., chronic recurrent or noncontinuous) pain," the guidelines state. Development of the guidelines was funded through a grant from Tylenol (acetaminophen) marketer McNeil Consumer Products.
